Shrewsbury is well serviced by transport networks…

By car…

Shrewsbury is the County Town of Shropshire near the border of Mid and North Wales and is bordered by Cheshire, Staffordshire, Herefordshire & Worcestershire. Shropshire is approximately 3 hours from London, an hour or so from Manchester and only 50 minutes from Birmingham.

Shrewsbury connects to the M6 and motorway network via the M54. The A49, A5, A53, A458 all make Shrewsbury easily accessible. From every direction there are signs to bring you through to the town centre and the car parks within.

Shrewsbury boasts a number of short and long-stay car parks, both inside and outside of the River Severn loop and a Park n Ride service from 3 destinations outside of the town centre. To find the best one for you, visit:

To the shopping centres, we would recommend using SAT NAV SY1 1PL

By bus…

If you are coming to Shrewsbury by bus, by either local or national services, you will arrive at Shrewsbury Bus Station where there is direct access by escalator to the lower level of the Darwin Shopping Centre. This escalator is found to the town centre side of the Bus Station. Your driver will help you if you are unsure.

By train…

Shrewsbury has excellent train links to all parts of the Country. Once you leave the front of the Railway Station, walk along the left hand pathway up the bank to the traffic lights on the main road. Here turn left and walk up the road past the entrance to Shrewsbury Castle on your left. After another 120 yards, outside Barclays Bank, use the pedestrian crossing and you will now be on Pride Hill. The entrance to the Darwin Shopping Centre is 40 yards on your right and the entrance to the Pride Hill Shopping Centre is a further 100 yards on your right.

Access via the Riverside Shopping Centre

The Riverside centre will be closed from 5th February for redevelopment. Alternative routes to The Darwin shopping centre and town centre have been clearly sign-posted around the Riverside centre to guide you on your journey. Below is also a simple map explaining new routes available to you. Access using lifts from the Raven Meadows multi-story car park to the Darwin centre remains unchanged.

Thank you for your understanding – the closure of the Riverside centre will be a hugely important step in the transformation of Shrewsbury town centre.
