The Collective welcomed its latest independent tenant this month – the brand-new Meena Beauty Salon. We met up with Meena to find out more about this exciting addition to Shrewsbury’s beauty scene.
Meena opened her salon at the start of August and has since been rushed off her feet, welcoming both new and existing clientele. The salon offers an airy and fresh feel for customers to relax in while Meena works her beauty magic on them, with fresh flowers on the table and lollies on the till. Here’s what Meena had to say in between clients (she seriously is very popular!)
Hey Meena, thanks for talking to us today. What inspired you to set up your own salon?
I’ve worked in the beauty industry for about 18 years and worked in Shrewsbury for around 10 years. I have a very loyal and wonderful client base and I wanted to expand to somewhere bigger and more comfortable.
What treatments are you offering clients?
I cover threading, waxing, tinting, eyelash lifting and extensions, facials, massages, and henna.
Which treatment do you think is a MUST for summer?
Facials are needed to clear your skin of sweat and dirt build-up to keep you glowing in the sun! Waxing is handy in the Summer too, your skin is smooth, silky, and ready for anything.
What advice can you offer to people who have never had any beauty treatments?
Threading is good for newcomers as it can be kinder to your skin than waxing as well as being longer lasting. For tinting, I always patch test colours on new clients to make sure that the colour suits their skin tone as well as hair colour.
What are you most excited about opening a salon in The Collective?
I’m excited for my existing clients to see me do something different. I can now offer more space and comfort which makes everyone happy.
