Midlands Air Ambulance Charity is responsible for funding and operating three air ambulance helicopters and two critical care cars serving the communities of six Midlands counties: Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Worcestershire and the West Midlands. This constitutes the largest air ambulance operating region in the UK. The charity also provides secondary cover to the surrounding areas, such as Warwickshire and mid Wales. Midlands Air Ambulance Charity does not receive Government or National Lottery funding for its daily missions. Each air ambulance mission costs an average of £2,500 each critical care car mission costs approximately £224. Midlands Air Ambulance Charity needs in excess of £9million each year to keep its rapid response, pre-hospital emergency service operational.
